Kelvyn was named President and CEO of BioUtah, the state trade association for life science companies in Utah, in October 2018. BioUtah has a membership of over 250 companies and works closely with government, academia, industry, health care delivery systems and media to advance the causes of life sciences in the state of Utah. He is a member of the board of the World Trade Center Utah and is on the advisory board of the Center for Medical Innovation at the University of Utah. He also serves on the advisory boards for Utah Valley University College of Science and the College of Science, Engineering and Technology at Utah Tech University. BioUtah is a member of the Council of State Bioscience Associations (CSBA). CSBA is sponsored by Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), a national association for pharmaceutical manufacturers. Kelvyn is a member of the board of directors of CSBA. He also chairs the State Medical Technology Alliance for all 50 states sponsored by AdvaMed, a national association for medical device manufacturers. He graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University in 1980 with a degree in Financial and Estate Planning. He has served on numerous International, National, and State committees. He was the first Mayor of Cottonwood Heights.

He has three undiagnosed rare disease children, and is also undiagnosed. He is a rare disease advocate and runs a nonprofit to support the rare and undiagnosed community.
