Nathan graduated from the University of Utah Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling in May 2023 and started at the Utah Newborn Screening Program in June 2023. As a newborn screening genetic counselor Nathan interprets abnormal newborn screening results, reports the findings to providers and families across the state, and requests the needed follow up testing.

Nathan is pleased to be involved with the Utah Rare Disease Advisory Committee. Given his mother and twin sister have type 1 myotonic dystrophy, Nathan enjoys advocating for individuals and families with genetic conditions across the state of Utah. Nathan is interested in acting as the liaison between the Utah Department of Health and Human Services and the Utah RDAC. His close proximity to the Utah Newborn Screening Program allows him to contribute to the RDAC with a newborn screening perspective; early detection of genetic conditions for which early intervention and treatment prevents or minimizes adverse health outcomes.
